Ceylon sapphire ring with diamonds in yellow gold

€2,300

In stock

This 18-carat yellow gold ring (750/1000 gold) was made entirely in my workshop, built around a round cluster in the antique manner. Its 2.3 grams of solid gold carry a generous bezel, finished with a frieze of gold beads set one by one around the edge: this granulated detail recalls the jewellery of the early twentieth century.

18-carat yellow gold ring: a round cluster in the antique style

This 18-carat yellow gold ring (750/1000 gold) was made entirely in my workshop, built around a round cluster in the antique manner. Its 2.3 grams of solid gold carry a generous bezel, finished with a frieze of gold beads set one by one around the edge: this granulated detail recalls the jewellery of the early twentieth century. The band itself remains slim and round, almost self-effacing, so that all the light returns to the head of the ring. I chose a closed setting for every gemstone: the metal wraps around the stone, protects it and draws a crisp golden outline. As a result, this vintage-style ring can be worn every day without ever catching.

0.40-carat Ceylon sapphire and 12 natural diamonds: the blue heart of the jewel

At the centre, a round 0.40-carat Ceylon sapphire (4 mm) sets the tone: a true, deep blue, yet luminous, the signature of Sri Lankan sapphires. Around it, 12 natural diamonds of HSI quality, 0.18 carat in total, form a sparkling halo of 1.2 mm stones. Finally, two marquise Ceylon sapphires (0.24 carat, 4/2 mm) are set as shoulders, like two blue petals extending the motif. These precious stones are selected one by one under the loupe. Consequently, this jewel suits an engagement ring just as well as a gift for a birthday, Valentine's Day or Mother's Day, or, more simply, the wish to treat yourself.

A word from the maker: why choose a ring by a designer jeweller?

Why a designer ring rather than a mass-produced piece? Because everything begins with a drawing, sketched in pencil and reworked ten times before the wax is carved. Here, the design was guided by a simple idea: to set a classic diamond cluster in conversation with two marquise stones that break the symmetry. The choice of gemstones came afterwards, the colour of the central sapphire dictating that of the marquise stones, then the tone of the diamonds. The setting, the granulation and the final polishing are all done by hand, at the bench. As a result, every handmade jewel keeps tiny variations, and I proudly stand by them. You are not simply buying a gold and sapphire ring: you are buying a drawing, an intention and a pair of hands.
